About the stamp design: Features the evil Queen from Snow White. Disney Creative Director David Pacheco and the Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department created new art for the stamp.

First Day City: Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, hosted the First Day of Issue Ceremony.

About the Disney Villains set: Includes 10 stamp designs portraying classic Disney villains. The reverse side of the pane showcases drawings of the 10 characters and their quotes. USPS states these stamps celebrate ‘the rich legacy of the Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department.’

History the stamp represents: Walt Disney Studios released its first animated film, Snow White (1937), introducing memorable villains.

Taken from the Grimm fairy tale Snow White, the queen drives the story. She sends a huntsman to kill the princess due to jealousy. The queen confronts Snow White, using dark magic to transform herself. Snow White falls, and the dwarfs arrive.

While Snow White is the heroine, critics cite the queen as the most interesting character. She changed what it meant to be a villain, proving they did not have to be ugly.
